Solar Power for a Remote Village in Nepal

Beneficiary: Tsum Valley Village

About this campaign

The village of Chhokangparo in Nepal's Tsum Valley sits at 3,500 metres above sea level, a two-day walk from the nearest road. Its 80 households — around 400 people — have no grid electricity. Families burn kerosene for light, spending up to 15% of their income on fuel that damages their lungs and the environment.

This campaign will install a 30kW solar micro-grid with battery storage, providing 24-hour electricity to every home, the school, and the health post. The system is designed and will be installed by Practical Action Nepal, a registered NGO with 25 years of off-grid energy experience in the Himalayas.

Local technicians will be trained to maintain the system, ensuring long-term sustainability. The health post will be able to refrigerate vaccines for the first time.

Clean energy changes everything. Help us light up Chhokangparo.
